Features: what SpicyChat does well for roleplay

SpicyChat is a text-first roleplay site. The core loop is simple: browse a character someone else built, or build your own, then write scenes turn by turn. The size of the library is the main draw. Quality varies because anyone can publish a bot, and App Store reviewers mention uneven user-made characters.

The April 2026 update added three things roleplayers ask for. Multilingual mode lets you play in 12 languages. Group chats put several characters in one scene. Lorebooks let you store world facts so the bot can pull them in when needed.

Memory depends on your tier. Reviewers list a context window of 4K tokens on Free and Get A Taste, 8K on True Supporter and 16K on I'm All In. Paid tiers add a Memory Manager, and "Semantic Memory 2.0" starts at True Supporter. In practice, a longer window means the bot keeps more of the recent scene in view.

SpicyChat AI pricing and real cost

SpicyChat sells three monthly tiers. Reviewers report a price change on 8 September 2026. The tiers are now listed at $5.95 a month for Get A Taste, $19.95 for True Supporter and $29.95 for I'm All In (September 2026; check the live page). Before that date they were $4.95, $14.95 and $24.95. Existing subscribers reportedly keep their old rate unless they change plan. Annual billing has been listed at about 17% off.

The real cost is the tier, not add-ons. That is the upside of no coins. The catch is that memory and images sit on the pricier tiers, so a roleplayer who wants long scenes will likely end up on True Supporter or above. Prices on iOS in-app purchase have differed from web prices, so compare before you pay.

Is SpicyChat AI legit and safe?

SpicyChat is a real product from a named company, NextDay AI Incorporated in Montreal, which also runs GirlfriendGPT and the SFW sister app PixelChat. PixelChat subscriptions carry over to SpicyChat. It publishes help docs, sells standard subscriptions and names its company, which are the basic signs of a legitimate service.

Safety is a mixed picture:

• Privacy: reviewers report encryption in transit only, with chats readable on the server. Do not share your real name, address or other personal data in roleplay.
• Age checks: you give a date of birth at signup. In the UK, France, Italy, Australia and 26 US states (as of August 2026, per reports), a third-party selfie age estimate is used, with ID as the fallback. Reports name the vendor as Persona.
• Apps: reports say Apple removed the official iOS app in August 2025, yet an App Store page under the operator's name still loaded in September 2026. Its status is unclear, so check the seller name before you install anything. On Android, the official route is the APK from SpicyChat's own site.
• Billing: subscriptions renew monthly. Cancel where you subscribed, on the web or in the app store.

Pick SpicyChat if you want text roleplay first, like browsing many community characters, and value a flat monthly price with no coins. Its lorebooks, group chats and 12-language mode make it the better pick than most companion apps for world-building.
